The world record holder of the 50 butterfly Andriy Govorov will be present at the Arena Lisbon International Meeting 2023.
In Lisbon since January training with the coach of the Portuguese National Team Alberto Silva, after a request submitted by the swimmer himself to the Portuguese Swimming Federation, the Ukrainian Andriy Govorov signed up for the meeting in his top event, 50 butterfly, and in the 50 freestyle.
Andriy Govorov was European Long Course Champion in the 50 butterfly in London 2016 and Glasgow 2018, and multi-medal in World and European Championships, both in the 50 butterfly and in the 50 freestyle.
In 2018 he made his name on the world swimming scene by breaking the 50 butterfly world record that had lasted since 2009, by setting the new maximum at 22.27.
Govorov thus joins other multi-medalists in World or European Championships who will be present in this edition of the meeting, such as the Italians Alessandro Miressi, Silvia Di Pietro or Lorenzo Mora, or the Irish Ellen Walshe.
